Bill Glahn has been chronicling the insurrection that took place in Newark on Friday. A similar, if smaller-scale, insurrection occurred in Worcester, Massachusetts on the same day.
In the Worcester rebellion, a mob of around 25 people tried to impede ICE and local authorities, who were arresting an illegal alien wanted for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery on a pregnant victim. The mob was incited by a Democratic Party officeholder, Etel Haxhiaj. Haxhiaj and other members of the mob assaulted police officers and ICE agents.
Video of the altercation is available on YouTube. This is a still:
The Worcester police union released this statement:
This is how the police union described Haxhiaj’s role:
Of particular concern in this case, one of our elected policy makers and someone who has created this difficult task for the police, District 5 City Councilor, Etel Haxhiaj, incited aggression towards the police during the incident. This councilor participated in the conduct of the unruly crowd and eventually assaulted both Worcester police and federal law enforcement officers on scene. Her behavior also emboldened others to act in this manner.
This is the statement released by ICE:
What should be done with those who try to obstruct federal officials in the conduct of their duties? The treatment of January 6 protesters gives us a clear precedent. Following that example, the insurrectionists of Newark and Worcester (who, unlike the January 6 protesters, are public officials and representatives of one of our major parties) should be held in solitary confinement for a year, and then ridiculously overcharged.
No one is above the law.
