Numerous lawmakers have expressed concerns that we could get dragged into another “endless war” with the conflict in Iran, but President Donald Trump said that’s simply not going to be the case. In fact, he declared in an interview with CBS News on Monday, the fat lady is getting ready to sing:
JUST IN: In a phone interview with CBS News, President Trump stated that the U.S. war with Iran is nearing its end far ahead of schedule. “I think the war is very complete, pretty much. They have no navy, no communications, they’ve got no Air Force.”

He added that the U.S. is “very far” ahead of his initial 4-5 week estimated timeline.
Trump said the U.S.-Israeli airstrikes in the Operation Fury attacks have virtually destroyed the ability of what’s left of the regime to fight back:
They have no navy, no communications, they’ve got no air force. Their missiles are down to a scatter. Their drones are being blown up all over the place, including their manufacturing of drones. If you look, they have nothing left. There’s nothing left in a military sense.
The president also told interviewer Weijia Jiang that he has no intention of letting the Iranians close the pivotal Strait of Hormuz waterway:
President Trump told CBS News in an interview the U.S. “could do a lot” about the Strait of Hormuz, as shipping grinds nearly to a halt in a waterway that carries about 20% of the world’s oil.
The president asserted that the strait — which lies between Iran and the Arabian Peninsula — is open now, but said he’s “thinking about taking it over.”
He also threatens Iran if it interferes with the waterway.
“They’ve shot everything they have to shoot, and they better not try anything cute or it’s going to be the end of that country,” the president said. “If they do anything bad, that would be the end of Iran and you’d never hear the name again.”
Energy Secretary Chris Wright Has Good News for People Concerned About Gas and Oil Prices
As we’ve reported, the Strait of Hormuz is so important because a large percentage of the world’s oil plus goes through its narrow waterways, and more than 30,000 ships per year transit the channel — around 11 percent of global cargo shipments.
Some of the ship captains have figured out Iran’s electronic attacks and have found a simple defense: turn off your transponder.
Ships are reportedly crossing the strait of Hormuz. They are reportedly turning off their transponders before passing through, and switch them back on afterward.

Trump also told the NY Post on Monday that he had a plan for keeping down oil prices during the conflict.
“I have a plan for everything, okay?” Trump said in a brief phone interview on the 10th day of the joint US-Israeli war with Iran.
“I have a plan for everything. You’ll be very happy.”
Jiang asked POTUS if he had a message for Iran’s newly announced Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khameinei, the son of the recently dispatched former Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Nope, he said:
Asked about Iran’s new Supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who Trump has openly criticized, he said, “I have no message for him. None, whatsoever.” Trump said he has someone in mind to replace Khamenei, but he did not elaborate.

My guess is he does have a message coming — via airmail.
As of this writing, the president has just started speaking at the Republican Members Issues Conference, which is being held this year at his Trump National Doral Resort in Miami. We will bring you updates on his speech as necessary.
