The Iranian regime made a statement in its own way Friday night. It fired two two-stage intercontinental ballistic miles at the US-UK base in Diego Garcia, some 2500 miles from Iran. For the benefit of eager American chumps who served in administrations before and after President Trump’s first term, Iran has previously denied developing such missiles. The missiles did not make it to their intended target this time, but the regime’s statement stands.
The Wall Street Journal first reported (more here) the missile attack yesterday (the two stories are behind the Journal paywall). The Jerusalem Post followed up with an accessible story here.
The Journal tactfully allows: “Iran’s targeting of Diego Garcia, about 2,500 miles from Iran, implies its missiles have a greater range than Tehran has previously acknowledged. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said last month that Iran has deliberately limited the range of its missiles to around 1,250 miles.”
The regime’s missile program threatened Europe and the United States, as did its nuclear program. ICBMs are traditionally designed to deliver nuclear warheads.
There was yet another message implicit in these two missiles. The regime is made up of liars whose words count for nothing. This may come as a reveleation to some.
Was the United States to await the further development of Iran’s missile program and the fruition of its nuclear program before taking action? Given the message they have previously sent with their “Death to America” chant, I should think not.
