In his X update below, KARE 11’s Lou Raguse follows up on Nick Shirley’s viral video on Somali daycare fraud in the Twin Cities. Shirley found no kids on hand when he visited Minneapolis’s Quality “Learing” Center last week — the daycare Shirley has now made famous.
Governor Walz’s commissioner in charge of licensing daycare spoke up yesterday. That would be Tikki Brown, Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth and Families. Commissioner Brown explained that all was in order and that there was nothing to see here, so to speak. According to Commissioner Brown, QLC closed a week ago.
However, Lou reports that his team paid a visit to QLC on Monday and found it open for business with children being dropped off. A New York Post story is to the same effect. The Post story reports: “Ibrahim Ali, the son of the owner who said he was the manager, claimed to The Post on Monday that Shirley’s visit came before they opened for the day.”
Perhaps a paperwork error of some kind is involved. Perhaps our children is learing after all. Don’t miss tomorrow’s episode!
Twist! After Nick Shirley’s viral video showing Somali-run daycares in Minneapolis that receive millions in taxpayer money having a lack of children, the “Quality Learing Center” opened this afternoon with dozens of kids dropped off by vans. pic.twitter.com/YKEXQbN6Ix
