The news that dominated the weekend was obviously Operation Epic Fury, the joint American-Israeli mission against the depraved mullahs who had run Iran since 1979. Many of them, including the former Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, are no longer among the living as a result of the strikes.
But one thing that cannot be overlooked amidst all the news is that an operation like this takes munitions — lots and lots of them. The concern among some defense analysts is that we are draining our stockpiles at an alarming rate.
That’s one reason the president reportedly wants to get this job done quickly:
Donald Trump was warned that America’s stockpile of missiles and interceptors could run dry if his war in Iran is prolonged, sources say.
Military insiders said Trump was cautioned that an extensive, resource-draining war in Iran could put US targets at risk if Iranian missile and drone capabilities are not destroyed quickly, per the Wall Street Journal.
The outlet cited current and former military officials who said the US missile stockpile – including air defense interceptors and Tomahawk cruise missiles – has been eaten away by conflicts with Iran and its proxies in the Middle East.
The strikes launched on Saturday started a race against time to destroy Iran’s missile force before the US runs out of interceptors to fend off retaliatory strikes, insiders warned.
Tomahawks, of course, are key to our defense (and offense):

We’re not in danger of completely running out in the near future, but we’re burning through arms at a rate that could leave us susceptible were a major war to break out with Russia or China. It’s not just the Tomahawks, however; other defense systems are being utilized to the max too:
Kelly Grieco, a senior fellow at the Stimson Center think tank who used to teach at the Air Command and Staff College, told the Wall Street Journal that with more strikes and interceptions likely, the size of the US stockpile may become a factor.
‘One of the challenges is you can deplete these really quickly,’ Greico said. ‘We’re using them faster than we can replace them.’
Among the most vital pieces of weaponry in the US arsenal is the Thaad antimissile system, which are stationed across the globe to monitor and track potential incoming fire.
Military insiders said keeping stocks of the Thaad’s weaponry high is vital, with the systems also set up outside of the Middle East such as in South Korea and Guam, to deter North Korea and China.
Trump will need to invoke the DPA to make up this tomahawk & interceptor shortfall.

By “DPA,” Fox News Host Laura Ingraham means the 1950 Defense Procurement Act, which gives the commander in chief powers to expand industrial production for national defense in times of emergency.

What the panicans fail to note, however, is that the Pentagon is aware of the issue and is taking steps to address it. The RTX Corporation said in early February that it’s ramping up its production of Tomahawks and aiming to produce 1,000 a year.
They also said on their website that they’ve “entered into five landmark framework agreements with the U.S. Department of War to significantly increase production capacity and speed deliveries of Land Attack and Maritime Strike variants of Tomahawk, AMRAAM® missiles, Standard Missile-3® Block IB interceptors (SM-3 IB), Standard Missile-3® Block IIA interceptors (SM-3 IIA), and Standard Missile-6® (SM-6).”
There are legitimate concerns, but the United States proved in World War II that it could ramp up production of advanced weaponry in a way that virtually no other country in the world could hope to match. This is a story to keep an eye on, but no, despite the hysterics, we are not about to run out of missiles.
Expect American and Israeli strikes to continue to rain down on Iran until the despotic, sadistic regime is but a memory.
