James Woods remembers his friend

The conservative actor James Woods had a bond with Rob Reiner that transcended politics. Jesse Watters asked him about it and heard him out. His comments weave a number of threads together. He concludes: “I am just absolutely devastated by this terrible event, especially for his family.” We would all be lucky to have a few friends like Woods if we are liberal and like Reiner if we are conservative.

Woods dates their friendsip to Ghosts of Mississippi, probably one of the lesser films directed by Reiner. Reiner fought for Woods to stay in the film over the opposition of the studio. Janet Maslin’s biting New York Times review of the film concedes this much: “James Woods’s performance as the hateful old reprobate [Byron De La] Beckwith is the film’s chief sign of life.”
