Japan Elects First-Ever Woman Prime Minister – RedState

Japan is one of the United States’ greatest allies in the Pacific, which would have surprised any American you talked to in early 1942. But as the saying goes, nations have no permanent allies, only permanent interests, and it’s in the interests of both America and Japan to maintain a good relationship right now.

That may have just gotten a bit easier. This was expected, but now it’s official; 64-year-old Sanae Takaichi has been officially chosen as Prime Minister, the first woman to hold that post, and a pro-Japan conservative. She has been referred to as the Japanese Trump, but there’s more to Takaichi-sama than just that.

Sanae Takaichi, a 64-year-old conservative leader, was elected prime minister on Tuesday by Japan’s parliament.

Many have likened her to the country’s version of President Donald Trump because of her “Japan First” message and strong sense of patriotism.

The US Department of Homeland Security, interestingly enough, was on the spot to promote the new Japanese PM’s conservative bona fides.

Japan, we should note, is more conservative than most Western countries on matters involving family structure and “diversity.” Japan is not very diverse; its citizenry is Japanese, and Japan seems to want to keep it that way. It’s difficult to get permanent residency and nearly impossible to gain full citizenship if you’re a gaijin (foreigner), even if you marry a Japanese citizen. So in this respect, the new PM may not be as far out of the Japanese mainstream as we might think.

Japan also faces some tense times in the western Pacific, as China is building up a blue-water navy and making noises about expanding. Japan has already been increasing its defense spending, and under PM Takaichi’s government, we may very well see that continue, if not increase.

But here’s the really cool thing about Takaichi-sama – she’s a heavy-metal drummer.

Sadly, I was unable to find any reliable video clips of the new PM slamming out some heavy-metal drum solos, but that is reportedly her favorite way to blow off some steam. That’s a good thing; governments in general could probably use a few more heavy-metal drummers in their midst.

Some years ago, when we were still living in Colorado, we had a Senator from the Northern Cheyenne Nation, Ben Nighthorse Campbell, a Democrat who switched to the Republican Party. As you might expect, he had a ponytail, and he rode a Harley. At the time, I opined (and still maintain) that the U.S. Senate could use more ponytailed guys who ride Harleys, and now I’m inclined to add that we could use a few heavy-metal drummers, too.

President Trump is expected to meet with the new Japanese Prime Minister next week. To the new PM, I can only add, Ganbatte kudasai ne!

Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
