Oh how the mighty have fallen. Well, entitled and arrogant ‘Air Miles Andy‘ has not so much fallen … as plummeted. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, 65, has always acted up his royal Casanova persona to lord over London‘s Mayfair hotspots, once earning the tabloid nickname ‘Randy Andy’ as the aristos’ society darling.
Damningly, even his own Wikipedia page claims before his naval career in 1979, and prior to meeting and marrying Sarah Ferguson, Andrew “seemed to be in training as a professional playboy”. The playboy prince was eagerly befriended by US financier Jeffrey Epstein, now unmasked as a shamed paedophile and sex trafficker, as both shared a lust for privilege and power.
It’s only been weeks since his older brother Charles took a kingly cleaver to Andrew’s titles – parting him of being a prince, the Duke of York, Earl of Inverness and Baron Killyleagh.
King Charles – with the support of Prince William – also axed his ceremonial knighthoods such as the Order of the Garter and the Knight Grand Cross of the Victorian Order – he’s also bereft of his military titles too like Colonel of the Grenadier Guards.
Now as if that wasn’t shame, upon more shame with a large dollop of humiliation for Andrew – now he’s lost the keys to Mayfair.
And that’s a loss it is hard to imagine his pride will ever recover from.
It’s been reported Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson have been told they are “no longer welcome” at one of the most lavish clubs in London.
The legendary Annabel’s in Mayfair is one of the most exclusive nightclubs in London, with a rich history, having hosted the likes of Princess Diana, Mick Jagger and Frank Sinatra.
The upmarket club, established by Mark Birley in honour of his wife Lady Annabel Tempest-Vane in the 1960s, has been a major draw for celebrities.
Andrew has never been a member but he and Fergie were previously allowed to come and go as they please. He held his 30th birthday party there in 1990.
Now it’s understood the former Duke and Duchess of York “would be turned away” if they return to Annabel’s as their “type of notoriety” is “not what the club needs”.
The ban is believed to cover the four sister venues owned by the “King of Mayfair”, Mr Birley.
To add more awkwardness for the divorced couple’s children, their daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie remain, for now, members of the club.
I mean, most kids end up cringing at their parents’ antics – but no children have felt the cringe as much as Beatrice and Eugenie have in recent months.
Their mum, we have now discovered, once dubbed Epstein her “supreme friend” while Andrew crazily visited him in New York in 2010 after Epstein’s release from prison for soliciting prostitution from a minor.
Now even the Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has publicly nudged Andrew into cooperating in what could be a damning US congressional investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and tragic victim Virginia Giuffre – after all we know he’s not great when being questioned live on TV.
Andrew and Fergie are quitting Royal Lodge in the New Year and she’s looking to jump ship to Portugal to start a new life there – the UK is too hot for her.
But where does Andrew go now? Well not for a drink in Mayfair anymore. At this rate he’ll be supping pints of Ruddles in a dark corner of a Croydon Wetherspoon’s.
