It turns out that Hamas did have a favorite in the 2024 presidential race, and it wasn’t Donald Trump. Which means, I guess, that they are evil but they may not be stupid:

We have seen this phenomenon before, as in 1981 when Iran’s mullahs released their American prisoners, whom they had held captive for well over a year, on the day when Ronald Reagan was inaugurated as president. Imagine that. The mullahs no doubt read the New York Times, and absorbed the lesson that Reagan was a dangerous cowboy who might do anything. In foreign affairs, that is a valuable reputation to have. So, to the extent that Democrats have contributed to Donald Trump’s fearsome reputation, thank you.
