Things were hopping in Los Angeles on Thursday.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom held a rally to push his new redistricting plan, which they termed the “Election Rigging Response Act.” The problem? They already have an independent commission in place to deal with such issues.
But during the rally, Newsom was throwing a fit that there were federal agents outside.

He couldn’t apparently tell the difference between Customs and Border Patrol and ICE. They were CBP agents.

Border Patrol Chief Greg Bovino said, “We’re here making Los Angeles a safer place, since we don’t have politicians who will do that, we do that ourselves.”
He indicated that he didn’t know Newsom was near.

But the person who had a true meltdown in response to the Border Patrol actions was Mayor Karen Bass. She had one heck of a rant about the Border Patrol enforcing the law.
“There is no way this was a coincidence!” she ranted about the proximity of the arrests to Newsom’s rally. She claimed the Border Patrol was there to “thumb their nose in the Governor’s face.”

“Why would you do that? That is unbelievably disrespectful! It’s a provocative act. They’re talking about disorder in Los Angeles and they are the source of the disorder in Los Angeles right now!
This is just completely unacceptable…This absolutely has to stop. There was no danger here. There was no need to detain anyone here. And there was certainly no need to have a provocative act right here where the governor is having a press conference.”
She’s furious that the law is being enforced. Arguing that enforcing the law is “unacceptable” is a crazy take.
This is as unhinged as the Democratic narrative on crime in D.C. that it isn’t a serious problem. It’s not reality. But this is the hole that the Democrats are digging themselves into.
Mayor Bass doesn’t get to tell the federal government what to do and what has to “stop.”

She said that the CBP “patrols all areas of Los Angeles every day with over 40 teams on the ground to make LA safe.”
You know what’s “disrespectful,” Mayor Bass? Not enforcing the law for the American people, and demonizing the work of those who are enforcing that law.
