Khamenei Sr. Doubted Son’s Smarts as Supreme Leader – RedState

Well, now this is an interesting development: It turns out that Iran’s late, unlamented Supreme Leader, the goblin Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, had some serious doubts about his son Mojtaba Khamenei’s fitness to take on the role. And yet, there he supposedly sits, or lies, assuming he’s upright above, not under the grass, and that he’s not in a coma, or (we can hope) cooling to room temperature.

This could cause some serious rifts in what’s left of Iran’s ruling caste.

U.S. intelligence has circulated to President Trump and to a small circle around him that Iran’s late supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, had misgivings about his son replacing him, multiple sources familiar with the matter told CBS News.

The analysis showed the elder Khamenei was wary of his son, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, ever taking power because he was perceived as not very bright, and was viewed as unqualified to be leader, according to sources.

The information gathered also indicated that the father was aware that his son had issues in his personal life, according to sources within the administration, the intelligence community and people close to the president.

Apparently he had some issues in his IQ score as well – as in “perceived as not very bright,” which is what we say here in the United States about certain Squad-identifying progressive lefty politicians when we’re trying to find a polite way of saying “as dumb as a box of rocks inside a bag of wet hair that’s been repeatedly beaten with a stupid stick.”

And yet, here we are:

Mojtaba Khamenei, 56, was selected to become Iran’s supreme leader last weekend by the country’s council of religious clerics after serving as a close aide to his father for years.

About eight days earlier, Ali Khamenei was killed in an Israeli missile strike in the opening salvo of the U.S. and Israel’s war with Iran.

A little good news, that last. But what about the implications of this?

If this intel is accurate, it could be indicative of some serious rifts in what’s left of Iran’s civil government. There have to be some people who still harbor some regard for the late goblin, who value his opinion, and who are looking at the new goblin with a certain amount of consternation. Might one of them hold notions of defenestrating Khamenei the Younger and taking over? Of putting some other theocratic a-hole in his place?

Or are the adherents to the now-departed Khamenei just packing their bags and hitting up Kayak for tickets to Canada? It’s not like these people are married to the regime; every despotic country in the history of despotic countries has ended the same way, with middle-to-upper range goblins frantically fleeing to wherever they can keep a low profile and access their Swiss bank accounts.

Of course, if we’re thinking this may bring Operation Epic Fury to a quick end, we may be disappointed. From what we’ve seen of the new Supreme Leader, he’s, at best, a figurehead; he’s not pulling the strings. If anything, they are pulling him – if, that is, he remains in the realm of the corporate. We don’t know that for sure and for certain; not yet. Maybe they could stand him up in front of a CNN camera with today’s New York Times in his hands?
