Kimmel ratings crater | Power Line

It’s come to this. From the U.K. Daily Mail,

Outspoken Donald Trump critic Jimmy Kimmel said he would ‘love’ to have the President on his show amid his tumbling ratings.

Of course he would. I’d like to take credit for predicting this, but it was completely obvious to everyone at the time. After the Charlie Kirk bruhaha,

The TV host was reinstated a week later, but has recorded sliding ratings ever since with viewership down more than 70 percent in his first week since his return.

Everyone (well, not me) tuned in to see Kimmel’s first show back on the air to see whether he would apologize. He didn’t.

He’s not funny or otherwise entertaining, so why tune it?

The real test will come when Kimmel’s contract expires next year. Will Disney/ABC renew an unwatched, money-losing show? If his contract is not renewed, will that be spun as violating Kimmel’s “1st amendment right” to a broadcast TV, major network nightly show?

The Daily Mail reports,

Trump has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! three times, the last during his presidential campaign in 2016.

Don’t hold your breath, Jimmy.

Kimmel’s viewership has dipped 71 percent in one week since his triumphant return.

On Thursday, October 2, Jimmy Kimmel Live! averaged just 1.9 million total viewers, down from the 6.5 million who tuned in for his hotly anticipated comeback.

Viewership has resumed his pre-Kirk numbers. Expect to see continued declines.
