King Charles and Queen Camilla wrapped up warm as they attended their first church service together after Christmas and braved the winter chill in Sandringham. The monarch, 77, wore a thick winter brown coat, while Camilla, 78, wore a cream coat with a brown hat and fur trim, and a patterned scarf.
Temperatures have dropped to -1 degrees Celsius this weekend in Norfolk. Despite the cold, the King paused for an extra minute to share a laugh with Revd Canon Dr Paul Williams, as he greeted him outside the church.
The outing marks their first of January 2026 and is the first time they have been spotted in public since attending the same St Mary Magdalene church for the annual Christmas service.
King Charles and Queen Camilla led the Christmas walkabout on December 25, and they were joined by the Prince and Princess of Wales, as well as their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
The family collected gifts and smiled for selfie-style photographs with well-wishers. Also in attendance were the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and their children, Lady Louise Windsor and James, Earl of Wessex.
Princess Eugenie joined with her husband, Jack Brooksbank, while Princess Beatrice arrived alongside Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. Princess Anne and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence and Zara and Mike Tindall were also spotted making the short journey to the church on the Norfolk estate.
On Christmas Day, King Charles also demonstrated his support for Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, with the two princesses participating in the traditional Christmas Day walk to St Mary Magdalene Church at Sandringham, appearing publicly alongside other members of the Royal Family.
Their presence at the festive gathering came as the York family faced continued scrutiny following their father’s fall from grace.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who has been stripped of his royal titles, remains at the centre of an ongoing scandal surrounding links to Jeffrey Epstein.
The Christmas church service at Sandringham represents one of the rare occasions when non-working royals appear publicly with the monarch.
The King is anticipated to remain at the Sandringham estate throughout the remainder of the festive period before resuming official duties in the new year.
