Leftist charged with shooting ABC affiliate building after network suspended Jimmy Kimmel show

SACRAMENTO (LifeSiteNews) — A 63-year-old California resident has been charged for firing a gun at an ABC affiliate building following the suspension of left-wing comedian Jimmy Kimmel, in yet another display of violent tendencies on the political left.

Last week, ABC suspended Kimmel’s late-night talk show after the host drew condemnation in his opening monologue for claiming, “we hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them,” despite it quickly becoming clear that shooter Tyler Robinson was most definitely not a MAGA sympathizer.

Kirk, the head of campus outreach group Turning Point USA, was fatally shot on September 10 while speaking at an outdoor event at Utah Valley University. Two days later, authorities apprehended and charged Robinson with the shooting, and detailed how he was motivated by his view of Kirk as “hateful.” Robinson was in a relationship with his male roommate, who was in the process of “gender transitioning.”

Kimmel’s recommendation prompted major ABC affiliates Sinclair and Nexstar to declare they would stop airing Kimmel’s show, as well as veiled threats by Trump administration Federal Communications Commission chair Brendan Carr (which Carr later walked back after a backlash on free speech grounds).

Many left-wing voices rallied behind Kimmel, with some threatening to boycott ABC and parent company Disney, and ABC announced Kimmel’s return just days later. ABC’s reversal failed to persuade Sinclair or Nexstar, who say they still won’t air Kimmel for the time being.

Anibal Hernandez Santana, a former employee of the California Rural Indian Health Board, took his anger at ABC to another level entirely on Friday, September 19 when he “fired one shot towards, and three shots into, the KXTV/ABC 10 station on Broadway in Sacramento,” according to the U.S. Justice Department. An employee was in the lobby at the time but nobody was injured.

Santana was arrested and his home and car searched, where investigators found a handwritten note under Friday on a calendar to “Do the Next Scary Thing”; and a note reading, “For hiding Epstein & ignoring red flags. Do not support Patel, Bongino, & AG Pam Bondi. They’re next. – C.K. from above.”

He has been charged with possession of a firearm in a school zone, discharging a firearm in a school zone, and interfering with a radio communication station.
