Lisa Murkowski Wrote a Book, Now She’s Getting Slammed in Reviews – RedState

This is too funny.

I’ve taken my share of shots at Princess Lisa Murkowski, as have most Alaska Republicans. Our senior Senator, ostensibly a Republican, has been a thorn in the side of Republican leadership in the Senate for a long time, and Alaska’s ill-advised ranked-choice voting system was installed with enormous financial support from Outside to keep her right where she is.

But a book, now, this seems a lot like an unforced error. Princess Lisa has written a memoir, and as we might expect, Must Read Alaska’s Suzanne Downing has the details.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s new memoir Far From Home has hit Amazon’s virtual shelves two weeks ago, but judging from early reviews, it’s less literary triumph and more fodder for political poundings.

The book, billed as a reflection on her career and life outside of Alaska, is averaging a lukewarm three out of five stars out of 46 reviews, with reader responses ranging from glowing praise to brutal takedowns. Murkowski, it seems, is as polarizing as figure as they come.

For every admirer hailing Murkowski as a principled moderate standing firm in chaotic times, there are two others slamming the book as a self-serving vanity project from a senator who long ago lost touch with her state.

I have yet to meet an Alaska Republican who thinks Princess Lisa is a “principled moderate,” although there almost certainly are some, given Senator Murkowski’s re-election successes, even before ranked-choice voting was foisted on us. But the reviews of her book include some real gems.

As of this writing, Princess Lisa’s book has a 46 percent one-star rating on Amazon, leading a 41 percent 5-star rating (probably from Democrats). Here are a couple of samples of reader reviews:

Reading Far From Home feels less like diving into the life of a stateswoman and more like being stranded in a tundra of mediocrity, political cowardice, and recycled platitudes. If Lisa Murkowski’s goal was to produce a book as forgettable as her Senate career, she’s succeeded with flying colors.

The problem is, Princess Lisa’s career has been anything but forgettable. Even if we manage to junk the idiotic ranked-choice voting scheme and then retire Senator Murkowski in 2028, she will haunt the nightmares of Alaska Republicans for a generation to come.

If you’ve ever wondered what political cowardice looks like in a fleece vest and pearls, look no further than Senator Lisa Murkowski — Alaska’s long-reigning champion of “talk tough, vote soft.” This book offers a front-row seat to the slow-motion tightrope act of a politician trying to balance between pretending to resist Trump while still making sure she doesn’t upset dear leader.

I’m reminded of the old saying about what one finds in the “middle of the road”: Yellow stripes and dead skunks. And the funny thing is, this review looks to have been written by a Democrat, probably still peeved by Princess Lisa’s vote to pass the One Big Beautiful Bill. I mean, if Princess Lisa has lost the Democrats…

As an Alaskan resident, I would not waste a dime on this book. Murkowski’s flip flopping and predominantly siding with democrats makes her a RINO, not a moderate. We Alaskans do not trust her and can’t wait to eliminate ranked choice voting so incumbents like her do not get elected again and again so easily.

I couldn’t possibly have said that any better myself.

I have a copy of Sarah Palin’s book “Going Rogue” around here somewhere. It would be interesting, a year hence, to compare the first year’s revenue of Mrs. Palin’s book to the first year’s sales of Princess Lisa’s work. I’m not sure how to go about that, but I’d be willing to make a bet as to whose book sold more copies.

To Princess Lisa: May I suggest a change in title? It would be more truthful and relevant to call it “Far From Relevant.”
