LIVE: Election Results – Voters Decide Their Fates in Virginia, New Jersey, New York City, California – RedState

During the New York City mayoral primary in June, I said that I didn’t envy New Yorkers, given the choices they were facing. The same holds true today, as the City That Never Sleeps may be somnambulating its way into a Democratic Socialist (aka communist) mayor. That race might be the most suspenseful as political observers across the country wait to see if NYC denizens choose Zohran Mamdani, the familiar (if severely flawed) Andrew Cuomo, or long-shot Republican Curtis Sliwa to be their next mayor.

But there are significant races elsewhere, too. In California, voters are weighing in on Proposition 50, which effectively does an end-run around the current system (also chosen by the voters) and will redistrict Republicans out of several seats — and afford Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom a feather in his cap — if it passes.

There’s New Jersey, in which Republican candidate Jack Ciatarelli is giving Democrat Rep. Mikie Sherill (NJ-11) a run for her money in the gubernatorial race.

And, of course, there’s Virginia, where former Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger inexplicably holds a polling lead over current Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears in the race for the governor’s mansion. We’d love to see Earle-Sears pull that one out, or at minimum, for current Attorney General Jason Miyares to retain his seat over Democrat Jay Jones (he of the, I-can’t-drive-55-or-even-105 and I-have-homicidal-fantasies-about-my political-opponents-and-their-families fame). There’s also a close race between Republican John Reid and Democrat Ghazala Hashmi (has she emerged from her bunker yet?) for the Lt. Gov. spot.

Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
