Drivers are facing severe delays just hours before the weekend is to begin as the Dartford Tunnel is to remain close for several hours. Emergency tunnel repairs on the M25 Dartford Tunnel anticlockwise from J1A A206 (Dartford) to J31 A1306 (Lakeside / Purfleet are prompting traffic chaos.
Congestion to just before J3 Swanley Interchange is also building up, with delays in both directions along the A2 on approach to the M25 J2. The J1a entry slip and the left-hand tunnel is closed. The (taller) right-hand tunnel remains open. The closure was prompted by a lorry “over the permissible heigh” entering the left tunnel.
