The M5 was brought to a standstill after a horror collision. National Highways told drivers to expect delays for around an hour.
It said traffic had stopped on the M5 southbound between J14 Thornbury and J15 Almondsbury due to a collision involving multiple vehicles. The agency said traffic officers were at the scene and initially there was about two miles of congestion on the approach.
Motorists were facing delays since about 7.30am today (July 21), with two lanes closed. National Highways confirmed all lanes had reopened by about 9am.
Avon and Somerset Police and Avon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service have been approached for comment.
