Man who lied about shooting Charlie Kirk to help assassin escape charged with child pornography

(LifeSiteNews) — The man who offered himself as a scapegoat immediately following the shooting of Charlie Kirk is now contending with child pornography charges.

George Zinn, a 71 year-old who yelled to police that he was the shooter of Kirk, admittedly to “allow the actual suspect to flee,” according to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, was arrested shortly after Kirk was shot.

He reportedly first refused to cooperate but confessed he was not the shooter after being taken to the hospital for a medical issue. When investigators looked through his phone, they found pornography images featuring children ages five to 12.

Authorities found “several very graphic text threads in which Zinn shared the images with other parties,” and he was subsequently charged with four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, the Utah County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Tuesday.

The pervert has also been charged with obstruction of justice.

After Kirk was pierced in the neck by a bullet, Zinn screamed “I shot him, now shoot me,” his UVU campus police-filed case documents report.

Zinn later said he wanted to both distract police and “be a martyr for the person who was shot,” according to court documents obtained by Fox 13.

He is reportedly known for disrupting local political events and often getting kicked out and arrested for trespassing as a result.

“Almost every political event you can think of, there was always George somewhere in the background, listening,” Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill told The Salt Lake Tribune.

In 2013, only days after the deadly Boston marathon bombing, he was arrested for asking Salt Lake City, Utah, marathon organizers if he could place bombs at the finish line.

Thus far, local law enforcement has not found evidence Zinn “colluded with the shooter.”

Kirk’s alleged assassin has been identified as Tyler Robinson, who reportedly had expressed his hatred of Kirk and was in a relationship with a gender-confused male who was “transitioning” to female.

Evidence indicates that Robinson did not act alone. The FBI is currently investigating “social media posts by at least seven different accounts that appeared to indicate foreknowledge of the assassination of Charlie Kirk,” the Washington Free Beacon reported.

Several of these accounts were associated with individuals identified as “transgender” or “non-gender-conforming.”

“It’d be funny if someone like charlie kirk got shot on september 10th LMAO,” one X account posted on September 3.
