At least two schools in Greater Manchester were on lockdown after police responded to an incident believed to involve a man with a knife on Bowlee Park, in Middleton.
Manchester Evening News reports that Bowlee Park Community School was locked down as “a precaution”.
Correspondence seen by the title says: “School has received information that an individual has been seen in the park carrying a knife.
“The school has locked down as a precautionary measure. Children are safe in school. The police are dealing with the incident. Please do not come to school. We will give you a further update when we have more information.”
