(LifeSiteNews) — Tucker Carlson continued his deep dive into why evangelicals in the United States believe it is their moral duty to support the nation of Israel.
While insisting on his podcast Friday that he is “not mad at Israel” but rather angry with “our leaders who don’t seem to care about the United States,” Carlson asked Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene why Christians in America believe they have a religious obligation to back Israel without question.
“It is embedded in our education system. We’re taught all these things … the Holocaust … the Nation of Israel. It’s embedded in our education,” Greene replied. “But it’s also embedded in church. It’s embedded in church, and they take that verse … Genesis [12], ‘Bless those who bless you and I will curse those who curse you,’” to support their position.

Carlson had asked Texas Senator Ted Cruz last week why he himself supports Israel. Cruz, who is an evangelical, said that he was taught in Sunday school growing up that God blesses those who bless Israel. He further affirmed to a stunned Carlson that he believes Genesis is referring to the current country of Israel, which was founded in 1948 and is led by Benjamin Netanyahu.
Carlson told Greene that he didn’t see where in Genesis 12 that “Israel” was mentioned, even though he said he checked two different Bibles. Greene, a former Catholic who now says she is a “simple Christian,” agreed with him, noting that nowhere in the Book of Revelation is “the United States” mentioned.
Jesus “was persecuted in his lifetime by the leaders of Israel,” she sharply commented.

Carlson also asked Greene, “How do we get to a point where good people … are making the case that Jesus wants more bombing?” – a reference to the current Israeli war against Gaza.
“Americans have been taught that they have to do whatever Israel says … the secular government of Israel … that supports abortion and supports LGBTQ,” Greene replied.
“The secular government [of Israel] should not be telling Christians and America what they should and shouldn’t do with their tax dollars, with their military, and with who their allegiance should go to,” she further exclaimed.
“We have this house. It’s our house, the United States of America, and our elected leaders are not fully focused on our house,” she also declared.
