In one of the most horrifying acts of political violence in modern American history, conservative activist and leader Charlie Kirk was assassinated on Wednesday while speaking on a Utah college campus. There are no words that can properly capture the tragedy that has unfolded, fueled by the demonic hatred of the person who took his life.
And while you’d expect the worst corners of the internet to respond in the most disgusting way possible, one would hope a national news network, no matter how left-wing, would control itself. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen over on MSNBC. In the immediate aftermath, while Kirk was then reported to be in critical condition, Matthew Dowd was brought on by Katy Tur, and what followed was an unbelievably cruel and grotesque display.

TUR: Talk to me about the environment in which a shooting like this happens.
DOWD: And yeah, again, that’s what you just emphasized. We don’t know any of the full details yet. We don’t know if this was a supporter shooting their gun off in celebration, so we have no idea about this. But following up on what was just said, he’s been one of the most divisive, especially divisive, younger figures in this, who is constantly sort of pushing this sort of hate speech sort of aimed at certain groups, and I always go back to hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. And think that’s the environment, that people just, you can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and not expect awful words to take place, and that’s the unfortunate environment we’re in.
There will be a time to lambast stuff like this in detail, but to be honest, I don’t have the energy right now. I think the sick, hateful derangement Dowd is suffering from is obvious to anyone who watches that clip. No one deserves to be shot in the neck and assassinated because they dared to believe in biological reality related to transgenderism or lower taxes. I’ll leave it at that for tonight, and instead do what Charlie would have wanted, which is to pray for Dowd. There will be time for expressing further outrage later.
With that said, MSNBC released a statement denouncing Dowd’s comments, and several hours later, he has now been fired.

We can only hope Dowd doesn’t land on his feet when it comes to his participation in politics. It’d be a good time for him to find a hobby and perhaps try some introspection about just how much of his humanity he’s lost. Lastly, if any other news network attempts to resurrect his career, they should be shamed into oblivion.
