Meghan Markle’s glittering comeback on Netflix might not last much longer despite signing a new multi-million-pound deal with the streaming giant. Her reality show, ‘With Love, Meghan’ is currently at odds of 1/2 to be cancelled after two seasons from Pundit Arena, and following a special Christmas episode, which will rival Princess Kate’s annual carol concert, a third season renewal is priced at 6/4. With her Netflix deal anticipated to be hanging by a thread, new odds have indicated that Meghan might potentially shift into publishing and fashion, with a memoir now the most likely next step in her career.
The show, which follows Meghan’s personal life in California, debuted to strong viewership but has faced mixed reviews since its second season’s release.
Joe Lyons, spokesperson for Pundit Arena, said: “Following reports that ‘With Love, Meghan’ is under review by Netflix, the odds suggest we may have already seen the final season. At 1/2 to be cancelled after season two, its future looks uncertain, and attention is now shifting to what Meghan does next.
“A memoir leads the market at 8/11, which would see Markle follow in the steps of her husband, Harry, who released his own book in 2023. Entering the world of fashion is another plausible avenue for Meghan, priced at 3/1.
“A return to acting also remains on the table for the Duchess of Sussex; she’s 6/1 to reappear on our TV screens as an actress.”
In 2020, the Sussexes reportedly signed a $100m (£75m) deal with Netflix after stepping down from their royal duties. That deal led to the creation of multiple projects, including their documentary Harry & Meghan, a polo show, and, most recently, Meghan’s cooking series, With Love, Meghan.
However, the new renewal secures their place on Netflix’s books for the foreseeable, but an insider claimed the terms embarrassingly fall short of the golden deal they first got, sparking questions over what this means for their future projects.
A source close to Netflix previously told the Express: “Harry and Meghan were paid a lot of money for their first contract with Netflix. We’re talking mega millions of dollars, and the only thing they produced that was a big success was their documentary where they slammed the Royal Family.
“Netflix basically had to give them a new contract because their old one had run its course, but the streaming service still needed content from them because they’d already committed so much cash to them.”
