The migrant crisis does not exist and outrage over it is a manufactured panic, a highly influential charity has claimed.
A new poll found that more than half of Britons consider the crisis “one of the biggest issues facing the country as a whole” – while more than one in four said it was in the top three issues locally.
Home Office data, meanwhile, reveals that more than 43,000 migrants have illegally crossed the English Channel since October 31 last year.
But now, “hard-left” campaigners and activists from the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI) have declared the crisis to be over.
The YouGov poll, which surveyed just 4,368 adults, “proves what we’ve been saying all along – there is no immigration crisis,” the JCWI’s Seema Syeda claimed.
“It’s a manufactured panic, pushed by some politicians and parts of the media to distract from what actually matters to people.
“Across our communities, we share the same priorities – making ends meet, accessing healthcare, decent schools and secure homes. We need to end scapegoating and look for solutions.”
The JCWI has a contract with the Ministry of Justice-run Legal Aid Agency and boasts of its “proven track record in winning appeals against deportation”.
It also argues that “everyone” in the Global South should have the “right to move” because of the “climate crisis”.

The charity draws funding from a slew of NGOs and Quangos, including the taxpayer-funded UKRI and the Unison union.
Today’s poll was commissioned by Best for Britain, a campaign group which was set up to stop Brexit – a few years before Britain formally left the EU.
It found that immigration was the second most important issue for people nationally, after the cost of living.
The group’s Tom Brufatto claimed the data “clearly demonstrates that media exposure and political discourse are fanning the flames of anti-immigration sentiment in the UK”.
His words followed a week which saw a paedophile migrant accidentally released onto the streets of London.
Just days prior, a small boat migrant who threatened to kill Nigel Farage was jailed.

PABest for Britain’s claims were rebuffed by the Centre for Migration Control’s Rob Bates, who a pointed to how a quarter of sexual assault convictions last year were of migrants, and two million foreign nationals now claim benefits.
“The British public rightly see immigration as the biggest issue facing the country, no matter what hard left activists masquerading as charities might otherwise claim,” Mr Bates told GB News.
“The tens of thousands of unvetted young men pouring into our country have not been ‘manufactured’.
“The immigration crisis is multifaceted, impacting every aspect of life from housing and healthcare access, to crime and community cohesion.

“A tiny minority of dogmatic campaigners might insist that everything is hunky-dory but they are, frankly, wrong and offer no solutions to solve the single biggest issue impacting our country.”
Between October 31, 2024, and the same date this year, 43,339 people crossed the English Channel on small boats.
The Home Secretary herself has branded the crossings “utterly unacceptable”, and warned the people-smugglers behind them are “vile” and “wreaking havoc on out borders”.
“Thanks to our deal with France, people crossing in small boats can now be detained and removed… Protecting the UK border is my priority as Home Secretary, and I will explore all options to restore order to our immigration system”, she said.
