Probably not, but Fox News accurately reports,
Minnesota State Rep. Kaohly Vang Her said her family came to the US illegally after Vietnam War.
Rep. Her (“Her” is the family name rendered in the Latin alphabet) went on to make further claims this morning, while speaking on the House floor. Fox elaborates,
Rep. Kaohly Vang Her attended a special session of the Minnesota Legislature convened by Gov. Tim Walz on Monday, where lawmakers were debating about modifying MinnesotaCare eligibility for undocumented adult immigrants.
While arguments were being made, [Rep.] Her used the opportunity to share the story of how she arrived in the U.S., telling her colleagues that she is an illegal immigrant.
The key here is the use of the present tense. If she truly were still an illegal immigrant, then she would be ineligible to serve as an elected state representative.
Of course, the story went international. The U.K. Daily Mail weighs in,
Democrat state rep admits she’s in the country ‘illegally’ in shocking floor confession.
But it says more about the current state of the Democratic party where embracing illegal immigrants and erasing any distinctions between illegal and legal immigrants are vital to their agenda.
Minnesota can’t go a single day without making international news.
