At Old Dominion University, a gunman attacked an ROTC class, shooting the teacher, a retired military instructor. A student averted more bloodshed by stabbing the terrorist to death.
The terrorist has been identified as Mohamed Bailor Jalloh. He had already served a criminal sentence for terrorism-related crimes:
In 2017, Jalloh, a former member of the Virginia National Guard, was sentenced to 11 years in prison plus five years supervised release for attempting to provide material support to ISIS and the ISIL, according to the US Department of Justice.
He was released early in December 2024.
If he had served his full sentence, the ROTC instructor would still be alive. But I guess that never happens.
In West Bloomfield, Michigan, another terrorist attacked the Temple Israel synagogue and school, apparently the largest reform synagogue in the United States:
A gunman rammed his truck into a West Bloomfield Township synagogue Thursday afternoon and then opened fire on the temple, exchanging gunfire with security guards before he was killed.
The criminal apparently crashed through the doors of the school and drove his truck partway down a corridor. Some reports say that he began firing after he entered the corridor. Members of the synagogue’s security team returned fire and killed him. There are conflicting reports as to whether his vehicle contained explosives. Only one person was injured, a security guard who reportedly was struck by the truck.
Local law enforcement was on the scene shortly after the incident was over, and the FBI eventually arrived. But the terrorist would have inflicted terrible damage if it were not for the synagogue’s own security. It is a sad reality that synagogues, and many churches too, need armed security.
The terrorist has not yet been identified, but I have little doubt that he was another Muslim. West Bloomfield is around 20 miles from Dearborn.

The incident in West Bloomfield comes amid a wave of violence targeting synagogues in North America. In Toronto alone, three synagogues have been hit by gunfire this month, according to authorities there.
Anti-Semitism is just a hobby for most–Tucker Carlson, say. But for members of some communities, it is deadly serious.
