Mounjaro patient who shed 4st names foods that ‘trigger’ embarrassing ‘sulfur burps’

A UK woman has documented her substantial weight loss journey on social media, shedding four stone over seven months whilst using the weight loss medication Mounjaro.

Ken, who shares her experiences on TikTok under the handle @itsken_x, has gained significant attention with her candid posts about the realities of using the injection.

In a viral video that has amassed more than 46,000 views, she revealed how the medication has transformed her from obese to overweight.

“Hi my name is Ken, and I have been on Mounjaro for the last seven months,” she explained in the clip.

Ken disclosed that certain foods she previously enjoyed now cause unpleasant side effects, including stomach upset and what she describes as “sulfur burps”, which can smell like rotten eggs and indicate digestive problems.

“Some people say that greasy or fried food can really unsettle their stomach, and for me, spicy food or garlic can trigger my sulfur burps,” she stated.

Whilst acknowledging these side effects don’t affect all users of weight loss injections, Ken advised maintaining a food diary to identify potential triggers.

“Because often food choices can make a difference with our side effects,” she explained, emphasising the importance of tracking individual reactions to different foods.

Despite these dietary adjustments, Ken emphasised that responses to food vary significantly between individuals.

She noted that she can still enjoy takeaway meals without experiencing adverse effects, though this isn’t universal among users.

“So don’t necessarily restrict things if you like to eat them and your stomach can handle it,” she advised her followers. “It’s all about eating anything you want, but in moderation.”

Her message focused on finding personal balance rather than rigid dietary rules. “Should you be avoiding any foods on Mounjaro? Potentially. It’s all trial and error,” she explained in her video.

Ken’s video prompted numerous responses from other Mounjaro users sharing their own dietary challenges.

“Spring onions for me, and I have them in everything usually,” one person wrote, whilst another commented: “The only thing that I have found that doesn’t agree with me so far is alcohol.”

Several users reported more severe reactions, with one stating: “I can’t even get a meal down me.” Others identified specific triggers, including bread and cheese, causing bloating and headaches, and carbonated drinks proving problematic.

“Had a Chinese for the first time last night since being on MJ for 4 months, and it was the biggest mistake of my life,” another user shared.
