Mr. Glahn goes to Washington

Your correspondent spent the day in our nation’s capital. The bulk of the time was spent attending a five (5)-hour hearing of the U.S. House of Representatives’ Oversight Committee on the multi-billion-dollar welfare frauds in Minnesota.

The star attractions of the hearing were three Republican members of the state House of Representatives Fraud Prevention committee. Chair Kristin Robbins and members Walter Hudson and Marion Rarick did a fabulous job explaining the work of their state-level committee and putting up with the inanities offered by the national Democrats.

All four Republican Congresspeople from Minnesota appeared and asked questions at the hearing. No Democrats from Minnesota appeared. The entire hearing can be viewed here.

You can see me seated in the room behind Rep. Hudson. I’m on the left. The man on the right of Rep. Hudson is state Sen. Jason Rarick, there in support of his wife Rep. Marion Rarick.

The “Part 1” reference in the video title is meant to preview Part 2 in February, scheduled to feature Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison.

Democrats on the Oversight committee wanted to talk today about any subject other than Minnesota fraud. The most popular topic on the left side of the room was Pres. Trump. This member (Ayanna Pressley, D-MA) brought an easel to discuss former U.S. Rep. George Santos.

Some of the fireworks of the day were featured on social media. I can’t imagine the scene next month.
