MSNBC dropped big news on Wednesday: that former FBI Director James Comey was expected to be indicted soon.
“The full extent of the charges being prepared against Comey is unclear, but the sources believe that at least one element of the indictment–if it goes forward–will accuse him of lying to Congress during his testimony on September 30, 2020 about whether he authorized a leak of information,” an MSNBC reporter wrote on X.
Earlier today, the Department of Justice officially announced the indictment, charging Comey with one count of making false statements and one count of obstruction of justice.

As my colleague Bob Hoge put it, if you could get indicted for being weird, he might be facing that as well. He’s definitely one weird guy, between his tales about seashells in an 86 47 message and his fixation on Taylor Swift.

However, it sounds like MSNBC wasn’t handling the news of the possibility well during a panel discussion on Wednesday, according to our sister site Twitchy. One of the panelists, MSNBC legal analyst Joyce Vance, a former U.S. Attorney, was asked her advice to people working in the Department of Justice.
Vance said that when you become an Assistant U.S. Attorney or a political appointee at the DOJ, you check your politics at the door. She said that’s what she thought the people in those positions were trying to do.
MSNBC guest says political appointees don’t take sides. 20 seconds later she suggests DOJ officials and lawyers will protest and resign if James Comey is indicted. 🤡

But she said that there might be a moment of “difficult choices” for those people. She said that when that moment comes, she hopes the American public will stand up and support these people.
“I think if there is a move to indict Jim Comey, we will likely see resignations out of Alexandria and Richmond. We may see other forms of protest by career prosecutors. It’s a unique moment, and I think these people will rise to it.”
So wait a minute. I’m confused. She just said that, in these jobs, you check your politics at the door. Then she turns around and says there might be resignations or protests. They don’t “take sides,” but they’d resign over this?
But then again, if you have people resigning over James Comey’s indictment, don’t threaten me with a good time. Feel free, go ahead and resign. Then we can get better people and help improve the DOJ.
Now that the indictment is here, I guess we’ll see how many of these folks there actually are. How many people are willing to toss their careers for James Comey? I don’t think there would be many – maybe not even any. But if they did, good riddance, and don’t let the door hit ya on the way out.
