The limericks write themselves. The U.K. Daily Mail reports,
A suspected drug dealer caught up in Nantucket’s biggest ever coke bust has been defended by residents as ‘a person of high character working towards bettering himself.’
Locals came out in support of Francisco Fernandez Sanchez, 31, this week after police say they busted him with over 2.5 kg of cocaine alongside an array of drug paraphernalia and scales.
You will not be surprised to see that in the 2024 election, the islanders went for the Democrat by a 67-31 margin, an even wider Democratic advantage than seen in the rest of the Commonwealth.
His supporters describe Sanchez “as a man of high character who was attempting to turn his life around.” The Daily Mail reports that Sanchez has not yet posted the $75,000 bail required for his release.
The case actually dates back to February, when Sanchez was first arrested. At the time, the Nantucket Current reported that,
Sanchez waived his Miranda Rights and spoke with NPD detectives. He allegedly told them that he is a distributor of cocaine and that he and other friends came from Martha’s Vineyard.
His lawyer told the court,
“He was extremely cooperative with police when they arrived,” [Patrick] Callahan said. “He went back to the station and gave a full statement to the police, certainly to his detriment. But this is a gentleman who I would not qualify as a danger in the community.”
To answer the question you are all asking,
Callahan said Sanchez has been in and out of the United States since he was a baby. He first came to the country in 1995 and has been living permanently in the United States since 2018. His immigration status was not disclosed during the hearing.
After the Current retrieved the returns from the search warrant Tuesday afternoon, the findings revealed a Dominican Republic Passport, a US social security card, and a permanent resident card amongst many other items.
Hasta luego, Francisco.
