Not exclusive, but right on

Last night the CBS Evening News ran Jonah Kaplan’s brief segment on the massive public-programs fraud committed under the auspices of the Walz administration by an almost exclusively by a large cast of Minnesota Somalis. I think it’s fair to say that, despite its best efforts, the Star Tribune is not exactly driving the narrative on this huge story with its efforts to minimize the magnitude of the fraud. Maybe Jeffrey Meitrodt can send Kaplan the URL for his story counting the silverware missing from the drawer after he missed the knives the first time around.

Ignore the prefatory claim of yet another “exclusive” and witness this evening’s CBS News segment on the Feeding Our Future case. Asked by Kaplan to account for the frauds that his office has investigated and prosecuted, and continues to investigate and prosecute, United States Attorney Dan Rosen responds: “It appears that the people at the highest levels of responsibility in the government in the State of Minnesota looked the other way.”

Not to worry. A spokeswoman for Walz told Kaplan “figting the fraud is his top priority and fraud is something that happens in states red and blue. Tomorrow the governor plans to name a statewide fraud czar.” Tomorrow is today. Impressive!
