Authorities released the identity on Monday of the man who opened fire at a U.S. Border Patrol facility in McAllen, Texas in what appeared to be an ambush attack on border patrol agents.
The shooter has been identified as 27-year-old Ryan Louis Mosqueda, who officials say fired off dozens of rounds, injuring a police officer and sending another officer and a border patrol agent to the hospital before he was shot and killed by authorities, the Associated Press reported.
The AP report noted:
Mosqueda allegedly pulled up to the facility in a white two-door sedan. Rodriguez said something was written on the car, possibly in Latin, but “what it means, or whether or not it is an underlying reason for him being here, I do not know.”
Mosqueda was linked to an address in Michigan but was reported missing from a Weslaco, Texas, address around 4 a.m. Monday. Weslaco is about 20 miles (32 kilometers) from the Border Patrol facility.
“An hour and a few minutes later, he was at this particular location opening fire on the federal building and our federal agents,” Rodriguez said.

Department of Homeland Security provided an update to Fox News about the shooting.
“This morning, an individual opened fired at the entrance of the United States Border Patrol sector annex in McAllen, Texas. Both Border Patrol agents and local police helped neutralize the shooter. This is an ongoing investigation led by the FBI. More information will be shared as it becomes available.”
DHS later posted an update on X about those who were shot in the attack.
“This morning, an individual opened fire at the entrance of the United States Border Patrol sector annex in McAllen, Texas. Both Border Patrol agents and local police helped neutralize the shooter,” the post read.
“Two officers and a Border Patrol employee were injured, including one shot in the knee. All three have gone to the hospital,” it added. “This is an ongoing investigation led by the @FBI.”
The attack comes on the heels of a disturbing Axios report that grassroots Democrats want more aggressive actions on President Donald Trump and his administration when it comes to the illegal immigration issue, RedState’s Rusty Weiss reported.
Axios on Monday published an astonishing report citing numerous Democrat members of Congress who say their voters want to see representatives literally willing to take a bullet to “protect our democracy.”
Several lawmakers chose to keep their identities shielded to offer candid assessments about what they’re seeing from their base at various town halls and speaking events. It’s more than likely they did so because some of that base is clearly unhinged.
“Some of them have suggested … what we really need to do is be willing to get shot,” when visiting ICE facilities, one House Democrat told Axios.
They added, “Our own base is telling us that what we’re doing is not good enough … [that] there needs to be blood to grab the attention of the press and the public.”
This insanity around ICE needs to be called out by Democrats and legacy media now before more people die, as RedState’s Brandon Morse wrote. And he’s right.
