On ‘No Kings Day’ We Saw More Behavior That Was On the Level of Jesters – RedState

Saturday we saw “No Kings Day” protests spring up across the country, and my apathy was such that I decided to take action myself. I staged something of a counter-protest – for lunch I ordered some Whoppers at Burger King. My resistance was just as trenchant and effective as anything seen on display, so I suppose I feel pride.

I dare suggest we are reaching a bit of a saturation point when it comes to protesting anymore. The rote nature of these “organic” uprisings has become more of a tiresome affair than anything motivational. The more common reaction when presented with news that demonstrations are taking place anywhere is more likely to be, “Okay, what are they all worked up about THIS time?!”

Saturday, June 14 was Flag Day, the Army’s 250th anniversary, and for good measure President Trump’s birthday. This confluence of conservative signposts appears to have rankled the Leftists as it would draw attention from their perpetual shrieking, so they saw a need to arrange for rallies to be held across the country. Somehow the messaging has been that President Trump is behaving as a totalitarian monarch and so the “No Kings” movement sprung up.

On Friday we were granted a confounding reality when CBS News made a deeply questionable decision regarding these rallies. The network is currently under legal pressure by President Trump over its “60 Minutes” interview and there are internal battles at the network, as the executives are leaning on the news division to clean up their partisan displays. While all of this is going on some wizards at the news wing thought it was a smart idea to show people where they could purchase their anti-Trump gear.

The actual protests were rather unimpressive affairs. It says a lot when you provide video of your event and need to insist that the crowd was actually larger than portrayed. (Might as well also insist the crowd was much younger than it appears.)

Taking the prize for the most stunted display had to be this one from another city. I cannot wrap my head around who thought it was a splendid idea to stage a No Kings protest rally – in London, England!

The politicians tried sternly to earn notice amid the din from the shrieking harridans, and they were not above looking shameless in the process. After Governor Tim Walz suggested people not attend the rallies – and while a manhunt for a political assassin was underway – Attorney General Keith Ellison saw fit to give a hysterical rambling speech. Cory Booker, ever in need of appearing filled with gravitas while sounding as firm as a gravel pathway, appeared unhinged as he gave a supposedly inspiring video for demonstrators.

It is quite the amusing paradox that on No Kings Day, these democrats needed to behave like drama queens.

Easily the most oblivious citation to arrive was made by the New York Times. On Saturday they reported in gushing fashion how Alex Soros and Huma Abedin were wedded in The Hamptons, surrounded by a swarm of top-flight Democratic Party talent. How can nobody at the newspaper see the wildly hypocritical position that during No Kings Day, they declared this to be an American royal wedding?

It should come as zero surprise the Democrats managed to undercut their own national movement. The best thing to do is simply get out of their way and allow them to continue.
