(LifeSiteNews) — Oregon Democrats and Planned Parenthood officials are creating a “working group” to ensure total access to the killing of preborn babies in the womb as well as unscientific so-called “gender-affirming care.”
The group will also work to protect abortionists in the state that facilitate illegal abortions in states with protections for preborn babies. Shielding abortionists from criminal prosecution for breaking laws has become a major goal of Democratic leaders since the Dobbs v. Jackson decision in 2022. The state already has some protections, according to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute.
“The Trump Administration and the Republican Party are trying to strip away access to abortion. We will not let that happen in Oregon,” House Majority Leader Ben Bowman said, according to KOIN. “Planned Parenthood is a critical provider of health care in this state and we will fight to protect them from these attacks.”

The announcement on Friday followed a judge’s ruling that allowed for the temporary congressional defunding of Planned Parenthood and certain other abortion vendors, a matter that remains pending in the court system.
State senator WLnsvey Campos implied the funding cuts will make it harder for poorer women to kill their preborn babies.
“By ending Medicaid reimbursements to Planned Parenthood, the Trump Administration is once again targeting the poorest and most vulnerable among us,” Campos argued.
While other politicians focused on abortion, another Democrat hinted the group would also focus on so-called “gender-affirming care,” which refers to removing healthy organs from gender-confused individuals. “Gender-affirming care” also includes injecting girls with testosterone so they grow facial hair or injecting boys with estrogen so they grow breasts.
“Access to abortion and gender-affirming care are fundamental rights,” state representative Andrea Valderrama claimed. “Our state has a responsibility to safeguard these [so-called] rights for all patients and ensure doctors get the resources they need to provide comprehensive reproductive healthcare services.”
Oregon Right to Life Executive Director Lois Anderson criticized the new group in a statement on the group’s website.
“Lawmakers should be focused on lifting up Oregon moms and families with life-affirming solutions. But Oregon Democrats and their allies at Planned Parenthood once again showed where their priorities lie: promoting America’s biggest abortion corporation and defending Oregon’s radical position of legal abortion up to the moment of birth – a stance most people on both sides of the political aisle disagree with,” Anderson said.
“Rather than supporting moms, as pro-life pregnancy resource centers and maternity homes do every day right here in Oregon, Planned Parenthood actually targets, not helps, the ‘poorest and most vulnerable’ by deceptively offering the trauma of abortion as the solution,” the pro-life leader said.
Oregon Democratic leaders have already implemented much of the abortion industry’s favored agenda.
The state already mandates some groups, such as Oregon Right to Life, pay for abortions in their health insurance plans.
“Even though ORTL objects to abortion on religious grounds, Oregon declined to provide an exception that would cover ORTL—all while the state did include both secular exceptions and exceptions for other religious organizations in the Mandate,” the group previously reported. “Accordingly, in plain violation of ORTL’s religious liberty, the Mandate requires ORTL to purchase employee insurance plans that cover abortion, the very thing ORTL is devoted to fighting against.”
Earlier this year, Oregon Governor Tina Kotek celebrated “Abortion Provider Appreciation Day,” as previously reported by LifeSiteNews.
“To our providers and to the patients who live in Oregon or have been forced to retreat to our state for care [i.e., murdering the unborn], know that I continue to have your back,” Gov. Kotek said.
The Guttmacher Institute meanwhile considers Oregon “most protective.” This means it has little to no protections for innocent preborn babies.
There are absolutely no restrictions on abortion in the state, and all taxpayers subsidize the killing of preborn babies, according to the Guttmacher Institute.
