Parents should ‘think twice’ about reading Robert Munsch’s books to children: pro-family group

(LifeSiteNews) – Canada’s premier pro-life advocacy group, Campaign Life Coalition (CLC), has warned Canadian parents to “think twice” about reading Canadian author Robert Munsch’s books to kids, considering his planned suicide by legal euthanasia.

In speaking with LifeSiteNews, CLC director of political operations Jack Fonseca said “Christian parents” need to really reconsider reading Munsch’s classic books due to his planned actions to “spit” in the “creator’s face.”

“I think that Christian parents now have to think twice about introducing their young children to his books,” Fonseca told LifeSiteNews.

“Regrettably, the once fun and innocent world of Robert Munsch now includes a poisonous story about throwing away the life God gave you and spitting in your creator’s face. That’s what we do if we choose euthanasia.”

As reported by LifeSiteNews, the 80-year-old Munsch announced that he will end his life through euthanasia after being diagnosed with dementia.

Munsch has written dozens of best-selling children’s books, such as “The Paper Bag Princess” and “Love You Forever.”

The author revealed the news in an interview with The New York Times on September 14. He confirmed that he has been approved for medical assistance in dying (MAID), a euphemism for assisted suicide.

As reported by LifeSiteNews, CLC had earlier warned that Munsch’s planned death by lethal injection is a “sad and tragic” type of “wake-up” call for the nation and shows just how “reckless” and easy it is for anyone to be approved to die by the grim procedure.

While Munsch was born in the United States, he moved to Canada in 1975 and quickly became a best-selling kids’ book author. At one point in his life, it was reported that he even considered the Catholic priesthood.

Assisted suicide was legalized by the Liberal government of former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in 2016.

Under the current law, assisted suicide is prohibited for minors and the mentally ill. Activists, however, have been pushing for these expansions with varying degrees of success.

Euthanasia is the sixth-highest cause of death in Canada, but it was not listed in Statistics Canada’s top 10 leading causes of death from 2019 to 2022.
