After a bombshell report claimed Nigel Farage told donors a deal with the Conservatives is “inevitable” before the next general election Express.co.uk readers are being asked: Do you think a merger is inevitable? The Reform UK leader has angrily dismissed the Financial Times story as “false”, adding: “After 14 years of dishonesty & lies they should never be forgiven. The idea I’d work with them is ludicrous.
“They betrayed my trust in 2019 & we will ensure they cease to be a national party in May.” Mr Farage argues the only future is a “reverse takeover” that would see the Conservatives wiped out as a national force.

The pressure is certainly mounting – Reform is now polling as high as 30% – a decisive 10-12 points clear of a Tory party languishing around 18-20%.
Defections from Conservative MPs continue at pace, and some Reform donors argue a formal pact or merger is the only way to prevent a split right-wing vote, handing Labour another crushing majority in 2029.
Conservative politicians, including Kemi Badenoch, have repeatedly ruled out any deal, with the leader declaring she will not “treat the Conservative Party like a toy.”
However, the whispers of further Tory exits and even limited power-sharing persist. The debate is raging hotter than ever.
