Poundland to shut 16 more UK stores – full list of confirmed locations | UK | News

Poundland is scheduled to close 11 more stores in just days and will also shut an additional 16 branches at unconfirmed locations. There are currently 800 Poundland stores in the UK, but the budget retailer is aiming to cut the number of stores to between 650 and 700.

There have already been 40 Poundland closures in 2025, and after the company received a court hearing approval for its major restructuring plan, Poundland is set to move forward with more closures this year.

On Tuesday, August 26, Peach Bidco, the company that owns Poundland, told a judge that the plan would save the store from entering administration. Barristers explained that if the scheme had not been sanctioned, the store would run out of money by September 7.

In June, Poundland said it planned to shut the doors of 68 stores after Pepco Group sold it to Peach Bidco, a subsidiary of private equity firm Gordon Brothers, for just £1.

The group has already shut dozens of stores but will now be able to end these leases early and move ahead with further closures. While 11 more stores are set to close on August 31, Poundland has now confirmed that an additional 16 stores will be closing, but their locations have not been identified.

Closure dates will be announced later in the year when employees are notified.
