Powell hasn’t quit | Power Line

Somehow, I completely missed this news today. From The Hill newspaper,

Fake Powell resignation letter dupes Trump World:
Some Republican commentators and at least one lawmaker fell for a fake resignation letter purportedly penned by Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.

Before I knew it had even happened, it was all over. The Hill mentions one legitimate bone of contention.

Meanwhile, top White House officials have zeroed in on a $2.5 billion renovation of the Federal Reserve’s Washington offices to ramp up scrutiny on Powell.

A few of you may know that I began my working career as a staffer at the Federal Reserve in Washington, DC, and later at the Reserve Bank in Richmond, VA.

Having worked in the Washington offices, I cannot fathom how on earth they could spend $2.5 billion (with a “b”) on a renovation. But, then again, here in Minnesota, they are spending close to $1 billion on a renovation of the state House of Representatives. Perhaps I’ve lost touch with the market for gold-plating bloated government bureaucracy.

The stock market (S&P 500 index) set another record, topping yesterday’s record close.

Rasmussen has Pres. Trump’s approval rating at 50-49.
