Prince Harry and Meghan Markle set for snub on their special day | Royal | News

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will celebrate a major milestone todaymarking seven years of marriage. Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, tied the knot in Windsor on May 19, 2018, and have since welcomed two children together.

Since their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in early 2021, the couple has been involved in a bitter feud with members of the Royal Family, particularly King Charles and Prince William. Having spent the past four wedding anniversaries in the US, the couple is facing another one estranged from their British family.

The King, 76, typically posts on the Royal Family’s official social media accounts to highlight the birthdays of senior family members and wedding anniversaries. With tensions at the forefront, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond has revealed whether the California-based couple can expect well wishes from the UK today.

Speaking to the Mirror, Ms Bond said: “I very much doubt that there will be anniversary wishes winging their way from the UK to California.”

Discussing a photograph posted by Meghan just hours after it emerged that Harry had lost his appeal to reinstate police protection when vising the UK, Ms Bond described the image as incredibly telling.

The black-and-white image showed Harry walking with their two children – Archie, 6, and three-year-old Lilibet – in, what appeared to be, the garden of their Montecito mansion.

She said: “I think the recent post of Harry walking into the distance with his two children suggested that he’s walking away from his old life once and for all.”

As well as saying their vows in front of guests at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in 2018, the lavish ceremony was watched by millions worldwide.

The couple will undoubtedly mark their special day in private, with Harry expected to treat his wife behind closed doors.

Meghan and Harry welcomed their first child, a son named Archie, in May 2019. Following their move to the US in 2020, the pair later welcomed their daughter Lilibet in June 2021 – a little sister for their son.
