Kate and William visited Southport last October to stand alongside the local community following the incident. The visit, which marked the Princess’s first public engagement since she completed chemotherapy, saw the couple spend time with the bereaved families of the three children and the dance teacher who was present when the attack happened.
Kate and William then met with emergency responders who were involved in the attack at a local community centre to hear about their experiences and speak to mental health practitioners who worked to deliver long-term support to the blue light community in Southport.
Following their visit, the royal couple said in a statement: “We continue to stand with everyone in Southport. Meeting the community today has been a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting one another in the wake of unimaginable tragedy. You will remain in our thoughts and prayers. W & C.”
Today, they will continue that promise to stand by the community with an extremely poignant visit, a Kensington Palace spokesperson said.
