Prince William may be the future King, but when it comes to desserts, he is just like the rest of us as his favourite treat is one that many of us love. The Prince of Wales’ culinary preferences have been shared many times over the years by royal aides, his family and himself.
Recently, he revealed his brownie preferences, saying that his favourite is a chocolate brownie without nuts. And it seems chocolate is a common theme when it comes to desserts for the heir to the throne.
Former royal chef Darren McGrady spent 15 years cooking inside Palace walls and served the likes of Queen Elizabeth, Diana, Princess of Wales, Prince William, and Prince Harry.
Speaking to Heart Bingo, he revealed: “When I worked for the [late] Queen, Prince William loved dark chocolate and asked for chocolate ice cream.
“[Elizabeth] would press a button, the page would come, she’d ask for the ice cream, and it triggered a long chain: head chef, pastry chef, silver pantry, glass pantry, linen room. Finally, 20 minutes later, William got his homemade ice cream presented to him.”
He added: “At Kensington, it was much more relaxed. William would walk into the kitchen and say, ‘Darren, can I have some chocolate ice cream, please?’ I’d say, ‘Help yourself.’
“He’d grab Haagen-Dazs chocolate chip, that was his favourite, open it, and sit in the windowsill eating it. It was so much more relaxed over at Kensington.”
William has also previously revealed that he’s not a fan of coffee, always opting for tea to “pep him up.”
And in 2022, during a visit to Cornwall, he revealed what he eats and drinks on an average day when he filled out a nutrition sheet.
He said he started his day with two eggs, wholemeal toast with butter, apple juice and a cup of tea with milk and sugar.
Then he revealed he has a “rubbish sandwich” with a glass of water for lunch and white fish with mushrooms for his evening meal. For snacks, the heir to the throne opted for a banana and a chocolate brownie.
