Queen Camilla has hosted a meeting with John Hunt and Amy Hunt that will form the basis of a special radio broadcast on New Year’s Eve. John and Amy are co-founders of The Hunt Family Fund, which was set up in memory of Carol, Louise and Hannah Hunt, who were brutally attacked and murdered at the family home in July last year.
The premeditated assault was undertaken by Kyle Clifford, Louise’s former partner and a fundraising gala will be held to help launch the Fund on December 11. The Hunt Family Fund will assist charities and initiatives that help support and inspire young women. The meeting took place in the Garden Room at Clarence House on November 27.
The Queen, 78, was joined by former Prime Minister Baroness May, who has supported her in campaigning to combat sexual and domestic violence, and chaired by broadcaster Emma Barnett.
The resulting conversation is set to be broadcast on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, in a special edition guest edited by Baroness May.
Her Majesty The Queen has highlighted the work of domestic abuse charities and the work they do to support victims and survivors, both in the UK and overseas. The aim behind her work is to break the taboo around the subject.
The Queen’s previous work included her visits to Refuge and Women’s Aid in the UK, and she hosted a Reception at Clarence House to mark the 50th anniversary of Refuge in 2022.
Also in 2022, the Queen hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace in London which brought together individuals and organisations who are working in the Violence Against Women space.
During the event, she gave a speech. She spoke of the growing issue of violence against women globally, and the hope which many of those attending offered survivors and future generations of women and girls.
During a state visit to Kenya in 2023, the Queen visited The Situation Room in Mombasa.
