Radical leftists celebrate Charlie Kirk assassination on flyers at Georgetown University

WASHINGTON, D.C. (LifeSiteNews) — Far-left flyers celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk have popped up on multiple occasions at the Jesuit-run Georgetown University.

The flyers, which first appeared Wednesday and reappeared Thursday, called on students to “join the John Brown Gun Club,” a left-wing extremist group linked to violence against federal agencies. They advertised the organization as “the only political group that celebrates when Nazis die.”

At least one of the flyers included the phrase “Hey, Fascist! Catch!”, referencing what was allegedly written on a bullet casing connected to Tyler Robinson, the suspected Kirk assassin. Another poster depicted Kirk’s face and the words “Follow your leader” and “Rest in **** Charlie.”

The extremist material was promptly taken down on both occasions. Georgetown officials denounced the flyers, reported them to the FBI, and announced their own investigation.

“Georgetown University has no tolerance for calls for violence or threats to the university,” a spokesperson told Fox News. “Upon discovering the new flyers, the university removed them and reported them to the FBI. The university’s team of safety and security experts, including its police department and specialized threat assessment professionals, will continue to investigate this incident and work in partnership with law enforcement to ensure the safety of our community.”

Linda McMahon, Secretary of Education under President Donald Trump, wrote on X: “Allowing violent rhetoric to fester on our nation’s campuses without consequences is dangerous. It must be condemned by institutional leaders.”

“I am grateful to those who spoke out against this and made noise about the posters on campus — you made a difference. There is power in speaking up to reveal these hateful ideologies that have incited deadly violence. Keep fighting for good!” she added.

Some Georgetown students who spoke to Fox News about the flyers were disturbed and fearful, while others saw them as just the latest example of left-wing extremist rhetoric on college campuses.

“Should I go out to this event? Should we have a Georgetown College Republicans event? Is that even safe now?” said Shae McInnis of the Georgetown College Republicans, referring to questions conservative students have been asking.

“They’re trying to shut us up, but we’re not going to. We’re going to be bolder, be louder and proclaim our message with confidence.”

Another student called on the Catholic university to issue a more forceful response.

“I would love to see the university distinguish itself from other elite universities in the United States, which have all completely succumbed to leftism and have rotted from the inside out,” Rowan O’Sullivan said. “(I)f the school had any spine, they would absolutely condemn it and come down hard, and not just send us an email.”
