Axios has obtained recordings of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s October 8, 2023 interview of President Biden in the Biden version of the documents case. Marc Caputo and Alex Thompson introduce the four-minute audio clip below: “Amid long, uncomfortable pauses, Joe Biden struggled to recall when his son died, when he left office as vice president, what year Donald Trump was elected or why he had classified documents he shouldn’t have had, according to audio Axios obtained of his October 2023 interviews with special counsel Robert Hur.”
Caputo and Thompson observe in their summary: “The recordings appear to validate special counsel Robert Hur’s assertion that jurors in a trial likely would have viewed Biden as ‘a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.’” Pathetic might be more like it.
They also post the clip below from the October 9 session with Marc Krickbaum: “Biden initially can’t recall why he had a classified document on Afghanistan from his time as vice president at his Delaware home. Then, in a rambling description, says he probably kept it for historical purposes.” Biden attorney Bob Bauer instructs Biden at one point: “Your answer is that you don’t know.” The useful Caputo/Thompson summary of the clips is posted here.
Anyone who thought that Biden was mentally competent to serve as president should have his head examined. The Democrats who spoke up on his behalf should exit left. The members of the mainstream press — virtually all of whom circled the wagons around him — should answer for what they did.
