Raul Gutierrez charged with weapons count

The alleged Latin Kings gangster is accused of stealing a rifle from an FBI vehicle during anti-ICE riots earlier this week in Minneapolis. He made a three-minute-long appearance in federal court in downtown St. Paul this afternoon.

He was ordered detained for now. He is scheduled back in court on Wednesday, January 21.

At today’s hearing, a consular notice was read into the record, which qualifies Gutierrez for Minnesota Man status.

Raul Gutierrez, age 33 billed out of Inver Grove Heights, was released from Hennepin County jail this morning, and handed over to federal authorities. The U.S. Attorney put out a press release.

In the federal complaint, Gutierez is accused of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Specifically,

Gutierrez appears to have been convicted of felony domestic abuse last year. He has not yet been sentenced in the case, with a sentencing hearing scheduled for May 1. Under the terms of his plea deal, Gutierrez is expected to receive a stayed prison sentence in that case.

Back in 2018, he was convicted on a felony weapons charge. He received a stayed sentence.

Court records show a third felony conviction, this one for burglary in 2011, out of Dunn County, Wisconsin.

In the most recent incident, it’s not known whether Gutierrez on the site of the riot in solidarity with cause, or lust looking for targets of opportunity.
