Return of Bed, Bath to skip California

From The Hill,

Why Bed Bath & Beyond won’t open new stores in California.

The once ubiquitous retail chain is attempting a post-bankruptcy comeback, but not in the Golden State.

Executive Chairman Marcus Lemonis said the decision isn’t political — it’s a response to the state’s unfriendly business environment.

But that’s exactly the point. The decisions, the tradeoffs, the acts and omissions that left California a terrible place to do business, were overtly and consciously political. Quoting Lemonis,

California has created one of the most overregulated, expensive, and risky environments for businesses in America. It’s a system that makes it harder to employ people, harder to keep doors open, and harder to deliver value to customers.

All by design. A telling detail,

Earlier this month, the first revamped Bed Bath & Beyond Home store opened in Nashville.

Meanwhile,

Newsom’s Trump act wins raves from Democrats.

The Hill quotes a Democratic strategist,

Gavin Newsom is capturing the hearts and minds of Democrats. People who don’t do politics for a living are asking about him, and they really like him.

Do they? No actual people are quoted or presented. But take their word for it, Gov. Newsom’s Trump act is working. The Hill tells me that Newsom has surged to 13 percent in the polls. That’s double digits!

As of Tuesday afternoon, the X account for Newsom’s press office had nearly 400,000 followers.

Newsom’s personal account has 2.4 million followers. His official X account has over 500,000 followers. To put this into perspective, the Twitter (X) account Catturd TM has 3,800,000.

Rather than spending the next two years as California governor working to make it better for its residents. Newsom is writing tweets in ALL CAPS.
