When Minnesota Democrats took control over the political branches following the 2022 elections, they all but adopted Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy” as their theme song. One verse would have addressed the special fervor with which they promoted the sacramental view of abortion. Chuck Chalberg explained it for us here on Power Line.
Minnesota Democrats look forward to another “Let’s Go Crazy” session following the upcoming elections. State senator Mary Kunesh is getting an early start with her pared-down version of the bill she previously promoted to get to on the good side of the protection of life. Kunesh’s proposed SF 3749 would adopt wild rice as the “official state grain of the state of Minnesota” and make it the official “policy of this state to recognize the inherent right of uncultivated wild rice to exist and thrive in Minnesota.” As Jack Paar used to put it, I kid you not.
In its own way, it’s clarifying. I’m filing this under our rarely used Thanks for Clearing That Up category, created for special moments like this.

“By recognizing this, the state of Minnesota is stepping into a reciprocal relationship with the plant.”
