The eldest among three siblings, Albert was born on September 22, 2007, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, with his full name being Albert Louis Philip Edward Windsor.
He was baptised a few months later, in February 2008, in a Catholic ceremony in the Queen’s Chapel at St James’s Palace. Albert was the first royal child to be baptised a Catholic since 1688.
The young royal has made a number of appearances alongside the Firm, including the King’s 60th birthday party lunch and Lady Gabriella Kingston’s wedding.
Albert is not included in the line of succession due to his father’s decision to convert to Catholicism in 2001, when he forfeited his right to the throne under the Act of Settlement 1701.
His mother, Lady Nicholas Windsor, otherwise known as Paola Frankopan, is a member of Croatian, Italian, and Austrian nobility.
His parents tied the knot in 2006 after meeting each other in 1999, in what was the first Roman Catholic wedding of a member of the Royal Family since the reign of Queen Mary I in the 16th century. It was also the first time a member of the British Royal Family married at the Vatican.
But the couple separated in recent months, with Paola being absent from Katharine’s funeral in September.
