Kamala Harris, who I take it is out of the country, gave an interview to the BBC that generated headlines in the U.K.: “Kamala Harris hints at 2028 run for president: ‘I am not done.’” That will warm the hearts of Republicans everywhere!
Kamala Harris has said she may run for the White House again after her comprehensive defeat to President Trump last year.
The Democratic former vice-president said she would “possibly” be the president at some point, adding that she was confident there would be a woman in the White House in the future.
“I am not done,” Harris told the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg. “I have lived my entire career as a life of service and it’s in my bones.”
After her disastrous run in 2024, there is zero chance of Harris getting the Democrats’ nomination in 2028. If she were serious about “service,” she could have run for Governor of California, her home state. But she has ruled that out. Running for governor would require a lot of work, something Harris has never been known for.
So what is going on here? Kamala is trying to stay relevant. What is really “in her bones” is the craving for publicity, to be treated as someone important by the likes of the BBC, that motivates so many politicians. She doesn’t want to do the work of running for office, let alone discharging the duties of an office–another thing Harris has never been known for. What she does want is to be interviewed by reporters, to be seen on television, to be treated as someone important. And so she teases another run for the presidency, which she has absolutely no intention of embarking on.
