Russian police have found the decapitated head of the CEO of a local fertiliser company in Kaliningrad.
The victim was identified as Alexei Sinitsyn, 43, the chief executive of K-Potash Service, a firm developing the Nivensky-1 potassium-magnesium deposit near Kaliningrad. His remains were discovered beneath a bridge on the outskirts of the city with a towing cable attached, investigators told state news outlets.

A law enforcement source cited by the business daily Vedomosti said Sinitsyn’s death is believed to have been a suicide, though authorities have not issued an official statement. Officials said they are working to establish the precise circumstances.
Sinitsyn had led K-Potash Service since its formation in 2014. The company has been tasked with developing the Nivensky-1 project, which was once heralded as a potential game-changer for the region’s economy.
Originally slated to launch in 2021, the project’s timeline has repeatedly slipped, with its current target pushed back to 2032.
Corporate records show K-Potash Service is wholly owned by Vyrex B.V., a Dutch-registered company, according to the investigative outlet Agentstvo.
Sinitsyn’s death adds to growing scrutiny around Russia’s struggling regional industries, where delays, financing challenges, and international sanctions have put pressure on executives and investors alike.
Authorities have yet to release further details on the investigation.
